CIMA exams are due to go ahead, with students sitting exams from home because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Certificate level exams and the E, P and F objective test exams will take place from the 4th May.
The May 2020 case study exams are due to go ahead on the original dates (from home also).
Exam booking will open on 22nd April 2020.
Are you going to sit one or more of your exams from home over the next few months?
If you've got any questions, please leave your comments below.

I've been trying all day to try to book but keep getting the below error message...anyone been able to successfully book? "The server you are trying to access is either busy or experiencing difficulties. Please close the Web browser, open a new browser window, and try logging in again."

There must've been many students accessing the booking platform for exams. I hope you came right eventually and managed to book the online exam. Good luck with your study preparation.

I'm really disappointed that CIMA have taken the decision to not allow scratch paper during remote testing. I understand the cheating element they are trying to avoid, but honestly, due to time pressures if you needed to cheat you'd run out of time. I don't see how it will be possible to solve many of the more difficult questions using the online whiteboard. We need options more options! Otherwise I feel like this is just an exercise to take our money and watch us fail.

I hear the view that CIMA are just in it to take your money quite regularly.
I can say that after 20 years of working closely with them that that's simply not true. They're in it for the student primarily and always do their best for students to help them pass, while retaining standards to stand up for the value of the qualification and the profession. They are a non-profit making organisation in the end and not out to make a profit.
Having said all that, I do have sympathy with the view that you can't write on paper during the exam. I'd find that tough for calculations. Everyone's in the same boat at least! And, it really is important that they do the best they can to avoid cheating.

its an absolute joke we cant use pen and paper- lets not beat about the bush. How are we supposed to do long calculations in f3?!

Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'm wanting to sit F2 and I have tried mocks without paper and it just isn't workable for me. I also tried the 'example whiteboard' and it's not a viable solution for needing to organise numbers and calculations quickly. I really wish CIMA would reconsider this decision.

I'm in the same boat on this - taking F2 on Monday. The idea of not using pen and paper isn't just that is something that is alien to me - logistically using the white board will just not work without taking significant extra time up. If they had extended the total time to 2hrs i could understand it - i wonder if they actually trailed the whiteboard solution to see its impact? I am approaching it with a positive outlook (await the rant if I fail) and am hoping that the questions will be biased towards the verbal ones. Has anyone actually taken the exam on line yet?

Good luck for next Monday. Please let me know how you get on with the whiteboard. I'm passing mocks at over 80% with scratch paper but it drops back down to 60% when I try without.

Will do - is it that you arent getting through the questions (i.e. it is slowing you down?)

I skip everything that requires a longer calculation(probably less than ten questions) and by the time i come back to them and try to solve them without paper i get flustered and frustrated and lose confidence. It's already such a tight balance even with scrap paper and tbh it feels like i'd be pushing my luck to attempt the exam without.

I think that is the right tactic (and what i have done in normal exams prior to now) - get through the ones that don't require calculations and try and create the time to do the longer ones when you have bagged the easier marks.
If you are getting 60- 80% either way you are in the right ball park so id defo give it a go - i'm approaching this one with a bit more of a care free attitude - if i fail i will try and brush it off and blame the circumstances!

I have always relied on paper too, but i am seriously impressed that CIMA have turned this around so quickly and are allowing remote exams The alternative is do what other bodies have done and cancel all sittings Lets be thankful that we have options, even if they aren't what we are used to

I'm so happy I found this forum. I'm looking to sit my F2 exam but I honestly don't know how I can do all the workings on an online whiteboard!? I've tried with their demo and it slows me down a lot... plus my writing gets messy and so I can easily mis-read it. If only they added some extra time to take this into consideration... If anyone does an F2 remote exam please report back on how you found it and whether the online whiteboard is do-able!!

I'm sitting my F2 exam online next week and I'm also worried about the idea of using the online whiteboard. I'm doing online questions at the moment with the sticky notes to type my workings but it's just taking so much more time. If we could use a digital graphic pad/pen instead of pen and paper I think this would help but CIMA have specifically mentioned these are not allowed. Surely if we were to use one of these or even our own physical whiteboard and show it at the beginning and end of the exam - proving we have wiped our answers/ workings out this would be sufficient.
If anyone sits their F2 exam please report back on how you found it as I'm currently stressing out and thinking of postponing mine.

Are you allowed to use touch screen laptops with either finger or stylus? Feeling stressed about my upcoming exam!

Anyone who's sat the exam that involves calculations ... please share your thoughts.
This is the only thing that's preventing me from booking the exam. Just ridiculous ... they should've added at least 15 mins to the end of the exam to accommodate for this. What a joke.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one stressing about the lack of scratch paper. I freaked when I read this in the rules when I ran the test on my laptop and thought I was making a huge fuss! I'm looking to sit P2 in the coming weeks and have already found the module though. Just did an hours "test yourself" online with Kaplan and only managed to answer 30/40 before running out of time:( I really struggled with P1 even with the use of a scratch pad and ran out of time twice before finally passing the 3rd time. This is going to be hell! How are you supposed to set out a discount factor table or tax allowance calcs over multiple years? I just about got my head around these after weeks of practicing, now trying to do these calculations on a stupid electronic white board that you can barely type on is quite frankly sh*t. Anyone attempted P2 or F2 remotely yet? How was it?

Not sure where you all live but I've managed to book an f2 exam at a Brighton Pearson Vue testing centre for June 2. Worthing and Crawley also had availability from about the 9th of June. I'm not 100% convinced the centres will actually be open as the voicemail for the Brighton centres says they are closed due to Covid-19 but i'm booked on for now......

Hi, I am struggling with P2 objective test as it is, now I believe you have to use the scratchpad for the home online exams. I am really worried over this. Can anyone advise how they've done it and is there any easy quick way to answer long wordy questions where it requires you to do a bit of workings such as payback and discounted payback, Any others people may be able to think off... Thanks

No one is advertising it but some exam centres are open. I just sat (and passed!!!) my F2 exam in Brighton on 2/6/20. I couldn't have passed either P2 or F2 from a remote exam. The physcal whiteboards they give you in the testing centres are a must.

Thank you! It was a big relief to get F2 behind me. On with the MCS which will be my first case study exam as I was exempt from the OCS. Feeling quite overwhelmed at the thought of it tbh.
As far as exam prep for F2 I used the CIMA study question bank and mock, the Kaplan exam practice plus (2 mocks and 180 question bank...which was slightly disappointing as one of the two mocks was the same as the CIMA study mock) and i purchased an additional mock from the Practice Test Academy. I also watched every open tuition lecture available for f2. I created many of my own 'mocks' from the cima study question bank and Kaplan exam plus question bank and spent a huge amount of time answering questions under the 90 minute time limit. Getting comfortable with the time limit is half the battle for me. And relentless question practice is the only thing that I found to get me there.
Best of luck to you both!

terracotta - I didn't find the exam centre conditions any different except for there less students coming in and out which i appreciated. Even with the earplugs I really have to fight to concentrate at the levels needed for these exams.

@bgc many many congratulations yet again on your F2 pass. Really appreciate all the tips you gave - I have a Kaplan P and R kit but will look at the open tuition lectures. Thanks also regarding the info about test centre protocol.
I have looked on Pearson and noticed several centres are open in the next few weeks which is great news.
