In our 'How to pass the Objective Test' survey, 91% of our student said they used study texts to pass their exams, 79% used mock exams and 68% used revision questions. It's great to see our students make the most of our materials. Remember, you are more likely to regret having done too little revision than too much!
Now that our students have given you an insight into the materials needed to pass the exam, what other useful steps can you make outside of studying? Revision period is a tricky time and a good lifestyle can be sidetracked, however not properly looking after yourself will only harm your success not help it!
With this in mind, here are 5 top tips to prepare you for your exam that you might not have thought of...
1. Get plenty of rest. The stress of an exam can distract you from your day-to-day life, but do not allow it to overwhelm you. Make sure you get to bed at a reasonable time so you feel fresh for the next day of work, from my experience exhausted students only get more stressed and this impacts their concentration.
2. Eat right. Lots of fruit and veg to compliment a big breakfast will fuel you up properly for the work ahead. Have some treats from time to time to reward yourself for your efforts, but do not overindulge - a diet of coffee and biscuits will not do you much good! Sometimes saving that treat for the end of your exam will be the motivation to push you that bit harder.
3. Exercise. It may feel like the last thing you want to do so close to an exam, but put a daily jog or a long walk into your diary. Physical exercise can put you in a good frame of mind, this can go a long way to relaxing you and taking your mind off things. This, overall, helps you feel better and calmer going into your exam.
4. If you're stressed, have a conversation. If you are struggling with the stress of the exam, talk to someone about it or about anything else. Only spending time with yourself during an exam period can leave you overwhelmed with work, having a close contact to talk to can really reassure you of your progress and relax you during a busy period.
5. Don't allow yourself to get drawn into other people's revision. The exam, and your revision, is yours. Feel free to share and listen to the ideas of others but do not allow this to become unsettling and distracting, focus on your own work and remember that everyone has different revision schedules and methods!
