Hi everyone, We thought we would start a thread where we can bring thoughts and ideas about the August 2016 Pre-seen Industry - the hotel industry We know from our research there is a good amount of information out there on the sector which can help improve our understanding of the industry. I am sure many of you will have already spent time surfing the net to build your knowledge so it would be great if everyone could share your findings and get the benefit of each others efforts...

This article has some excellent statistics and facts - by looking at it it's possible to highlight that the room occupancy rates in Wise Choice Hotels are actually above the industry average: www.hospitalitynet.org/news/4073336.html

I've had many years working for hotel companies. Some things I take for granted. One is the different business on different nights of the week. In a hotel such as Hotel 1 I would expect the guests from Monday night to Friday morning to be predominantly business customers and those arriving on Fridays and leaving on Sundays to be leisure customers. This leaves the rooms with a fairly low occupancy on Sunday nights. As an aside, if I need to go somewhere and can choose my night I usually choose Sunday nights. It is easier to negotiate a discount! Over the coming week I will try to add other little snippets. Please join in. I think sometimes when you work in an industry you just know things and take them for granted. Little things such as these snippets could be useful in the exam answers. They will certainly help to show the examiner you are confident in the industry.
