I guess this is a little late to ask this type of question, but i thought i should share this. I sat for pm in November and got a 45% mark. I thought the paper was easy enough so i was very surprised to see i have failed. But when i got marks break down i was even more surprised to see that i have gotten zero marks to 3 questions, Q1,Q2 AND Q4. Some of my friends who failed p2 in nov also go zero to one of those questions. Strangely only those 3. Has anyone here got something like that? And is that normal?

Hey! I am also a cima student and i agree all of you. Passing cima exams is to much difficult and cima makes it more difficult by dividing the cima into 3 Levels i know it's for use easy but how can we pass the exam coz papers setters are very cruel for students. I recently passed cima management level and now i am try to strategic level recently one of my friend tell me about the site that have all the study problems of cima. I checked it before my exam and i prepare my last exam by the site. I really impressed from it really it has all the cima study problems. Exams4sure also gives you a demo. Demo is a proof that the site is registered and it'd dumps are 100% accurate and verified by the experts. Here i gives you a sample of it's demo. Cima P2 Exam Questions

I managed to pass P2 on my 3rd attempt. In my first attempt I tried to answer all the questions one after the other and that seemed to have knocked my confidence when coming across a question that I struggled with. In my second attempt I found the questions were a lot longer that than my first and I panicked when I saw the clock, making me rush questions. When coming to sit my third attempt I made sure I new the subject inside and out, went into the exam with a game plan to answer all the easy/short questions first and then come back to the harder/longer questions and it seemed to have worked. Thinking back there was a lot more theory based questions than actual workings so make sure your you have full knowledge of the subject. There is no point knowing how to calculate IRR and not able to select the definition in a theory based question.
I hope this helps and good luck with P2!

Hi all I am really struggling to memorise the formula for IRR & MIRR any tips also can anyone assist with the rearranging of the learning curve formula had a question on a mock last night which really threw me as gave times for the first two and next six units and asked to derive the learning rate but no idea how they got the formula to the one they used

Hi everyone. This morning I sat my P2 OT exam for the first time and managed to pass. The exam was so much easier than the practise one available on the PV website which I had tried a few days ago and had sent me into a cycle of depression and worry about the real exam. Main differences vs the mock paper were:
1) General difficulty of questions - in line with the Kaplan questions 2) No ambiguity in the multiple choice answers 3) The questions were much, much shorter 4) At least 50% did not involve any sort of calculation
Moral of the story is that the PV mock exam is worthless and that possibly CIMA have woken up to the fact that the exam was way too hard (hence the low pass rate)..

Hi everyone
Just had my final results for P2 after sitting for the first time on Wednesday. Thankfully I passed but was not looking forward to this paper having spent 3 months studying between first opening the text to sitting the exam.
There are an awful amount of techniques to remember for this exam so the only things I can suggest are to study the texts thoroughly and do lots of question practise.
That said I probably had no more than 50% of the exam requiring calculations the balance being theory questions.

Hi I have failed P2 6 times and has no hope that I will ever pass. I am panicking as this is my last exam in MGT level. I have done a lot of question practise from bpp, Kaplan and astranti but the selection of questions I get are so lengthy such DPP with whole page of scenario. Please let me know what else I can do?

In the OT's a lot of the scenario is pointless. you need to develop the skill of skim reading picking out only the key points required to answer the question.

I did the paper today and didn't get through. Very frustrating as I have used the BPP kit and Kaplan text. (Am a p2 studier from the previous format sitting). If anyone has any tips to pass would be most grateful. I don't know about you guys but some of those questions were seriously ambiguous and also heavy weighting on differences between NPV/ARR etc.
I honestly don't know what else to do!

Thank you so much Bmer. I take it you mean aptitude. I forgot to say I have also used that as well. Well I used the mock - the test yourself was a bit weird as it had a performance management section and a finance management section as well?!

NPV & ARR would come under the finance management section, I think they formulated the questions before the syllabus was set in stone so had to rejig things about a bit.

Hi guys, I am about to take my first attempt in the P2 paper. I was supposed to take this in December 2015, however postponed it once I took the mock and only achieved 40%. As you can imagine panic kicked in when I saw the 40% on my screen, when I was getting 80-90% on the BPP and Kaplan Exam kit just a few hours earlier.
There was a post from some guy earlier who said he got 40% in the mock but somehow passed the exam on the day. Maybe there is hope ? ? ? One thing I did notice in the mock exam was the questions are no way similar to the questions in the Kaplan and BPP exam kits. I also noticed the Kaplan and BPP questions were mainly designed to make you practice the techniques and not so much the theory. However when you take the exam, most questions are theory based where they say 'Select all that apply' which makes you want to kick a puppy every time you see it.
Anyway wish me luck guys and will let you know whether I pass or not but one thing is for sure, CIMA have intentionally made this exam close to impossible to pass.
Regards Waz

Hi guys, so a quick update. thankfully I Passed ! ! I have to say the exam was easier than I thought it would be. If there was ever a time to take the exam, I would say take it now before they make it difficult again once reviewing the numbers haha.
Key Highlights: 1.The exam does not have alot of 'Select All that Apply' questions. I counted around 4-5 out of the 60 questions to be 'Select all that apply'. 2.the calc questions were not that long winded. for example in the Kaplan practice questions the project appraisal type questions were for 4-5 years or even 8 in some, whether this was for NPV, or MIRR etc. In the exam however, the questions were for 2-3 years. 3. Make sure you have practised ALL the Project appraisal techniques. I am pretty sure they had a question for nearly all the Project appraisal techniques, even the MIRR and WDA allowance. 4. Residual Value, ROCE and Economic Value will definitely come up. 5. Make sure you know the ins and outs of all the pricing strategies. Skimming and Penetration is the obvious ones but make sure you have sound knowledge about the others too. 6. Finally, ABC is in my eyes the Achilles heal in this module. doubly practice this and the theory.
I hope this helps guys and take care... F2 is next for me... wish me luck ;-)

hi, just wanted to give an update for anyone going to sit their P2 exam now, the Pearson mock exam is not any way reflective of the actual exam. I got 30% in it and nearly had a meltdown. I passed the actual exam the next morning. My exam questions were more in standard with the Kaplan revision questions and nowhere near as wordy as the mock, I barely had time to read and fully take in the question in 90 seconds for the mock let alone calculate the answer. Good luck.

Hi Gretchen, what was your pass rate for P2 as i also sat the paper last week but failed it as i got 85...so frustrating!!!, just want to know exactly what pass mark i should be getting in order to pass- Hi mate, you need to get 100 / 150 to achieve a Pass - this works out at 70 %. Each question is approx 2.5 marks ( 60 questions x 2.5 = 150 ) so you were close, about 6-7 questions off the 40 required. Good luck for your resit

Hi Guys, very relieved to find this forum and hear some tips and also what others are facing in the battle to pass the infamous P2! I think was a bit ambitious - started stuyding late Feb this year and then took the OT late March (twice) failing with 75 and 77 (about 52%). I am now despertaley trying to pass on the third attempt. Action taken to date: Kaplan study kit, Astranti Masterclass and Mocks, Acorn Mocks, online tips e.g here. I found that the OT had many more theory questions that the mocks - and also very different theory questions to anything in either the CIMA practice kit or Astranti. Does anyone have any quick win tips to get through this torture! No pain no gain right ... any tips greatly appreciated!? Thanks so much ...

I have tried to pass this exam under the new syllabus 7 times now, last time I got 98 points, all the other attempts between 86-93 ... I think dispair would be the best word to discribe my feelings right now. I have used Kaplan mock kit, acorn, BPP and even went to BPP tuition course.I went back to BPP and asked them what else can I do or what the next approach should be and I was told that I have all the tools and I'm close so should keep trying ... I don't think I can keep trying ...I am seriously considering sacking cima... I have never experience so much disappointment ,not to mention that the confidence levels are very low and I can see this creeping in all other aspects on my life. The look on my manager's face when I go back to the office and say I've failed again... They must all think I'm so stupid... I've stopped telling friends and family when I'm taking the exams, that way nobody will ask me how I did and maybe I won't feel so horrible when I fail again

Hi Andreea, So sorry you are going through such a tough time with this exam. I can empathise as I still haven't been able to pass and it's frustrating! I tried to message you privately but couldn't - but send me a message if you want to talk more and be study buddies.

Hi all, I have just found this site from googling frantically for help around some questions which come up in my sitting on Saturday where they was asking for which project a manager would chose based on a table showing NPV, Payback, Probability and Standard Deviation. there was 4 of these questions! I got 98. this was the 5th time of sitting and getting between 92-98 on each sitting. Im booked again for Monday and desperately want to pass. Can anyone guide me on how to find questions of this style. I have Kaplan, BPP, Ashanti and CIMAStudy with the aptitude mocks and nothing in these style has cropped up.

Sorry to hear that. P2 is such a tough paper. Maybe try the acorn exam questions? In these types f questions remember that Npv is the only measure which increases shareholder wealth. Were there any other types of questions that came up which u found tough?

Hi guys
I am having the same problem. Have attempted P2 5 times now and results all between 90-98. Its a tough paper, and the questions in the exam are completely different to those in exam practice kits. Does anyone have revision tips? Or recommend any practice questions which are better than the Kaplan/ First Intuition books?
Thanks very much

Hi I Sat my P2 exam for the 4th time and failed again - it came as a surprise to me that i had failed - i self studied all CIMA papers before and did not fail many more then once - P2 how ever is proving to be a hard nut to crack - even after finishing the hard copy of practice kit - recectly bought Kaplan online apptitude mock did ok in mock and practiced each and every single of 171 questions in online "test yourself assesment" for 3 days - yet again - FAILED - i am struggling to see where i am going wrong now - part of me thinks that - they have a few easier/fairer versions of P2 exam - if you are lucky enough you get that - otherwise you come home and wonder - where the hell you are going wrong !!!! its becoming really frustrating !!!

Guys. i passed P2 in second attempt. First attempt i tried to cover only the requirement of objective test but i failed by achieving 90 score. In second attempt my strategy is to study each aspect of study text , as in exam they can ask anything.
