Hi everyone,
We thought we would start a thread where we can bring thoughts and ideas about the February 2016 Pre-seen Industry - the fashion industry.
We know from our research there is a good amount of information out there on the clothing retail sector which can help improve our understanding of the industry.
I am sure many of you will have already spent time surfing the net to build your knowledge so it would be great if everyone could share your findings and get the benefit of each others efforts!
So let's begin!
What industry examples have you found? How does this relate to Rio?

Quote from H&M "Demographics and geography also influence the distribution of products: high-fashion garments produced in limited quantities are sold mainly in big cities while basics are ordered in larger volumes and more widely distributed." Rio seem to focus only on fast fashion everywhere not just in big cities which is an interesting difference between them and H&M. Rio make their basics in their Eastern European factory. I'm not quite sure how Rio produce 40% of goods in Asia on a fast fashion model as these fashions will take many months before arrival in Europe. Something doesn't quite stack up there - probably something the examiner missed rather than something she wanted you to pick up on. about.hm.com/en/About/facts-about-hm/idea-to-store/planning-and-buying.html

Great article on Zara here, outlining their rise to success - lots of parallels with Rio:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/11172562/How-Inditex-became-the-worlds-biggest-fashion-retailer.html
