Which study material you think will be sufficient to pass E3, P3 and F3? BPP and Kaplan are not good enough to get you pass. Any suggestions.
Thanks

Please, any reason why you think BPP & Kaplan aren't good enough?

I used Kaplan and acorn for E3, then Kaplan P3 and ACCA F8 to pass P3.... The P3 text from Kaplan is terrible, no formula or tables in their course offering.

hi b,
I was considering buying the Kaplan tuition kit to reinforce knowledge.
I know the revision kit is not at the same level compared to the real exam but what is wrong with the tuition kit? is it that bad?
regards michael

Hi Michael
As I mentioned above there were no formula or tables. As an example the calculation for value at risk they would give an example using 2.326 as the 99% VAR, however no normal distribution table or explanation as to how they got this number. I used CIMAstudy.com so emailed them for help, while they guided me in terms of probability theory they still didn't and couldn't explain their examples. The financial risk part of P3 covers around 35% of the syllabus so I felt this was very weak and formally complained to both CIMA and Kaplan. I got more help from other students than from Kaplan. I felt this permeated the course for P3, I used the BPP materials and also ACCA F8 materials to eventually pass this.

thanks B.
not ideal if you have to use a different qualifications textbook. sounds like Kaplan have made a complete hash of the textbook. someone else has told me it's full of long case studies that are of little use to passing the exam.

Due to sit E3 and know like F3 I will fail if I simply stick to the bpp revision kit. Hence thinking of buying one from another tuition provider what would you guys (those who passed) recommend for E3 and F3. So far the only one that resembles anything like the real OT is the cima ones in font and colour ?

For E3 I used old Cima Kaplan text book and Acron text book The syllabus is not fully covered in acorn study text a good example is the performance pyramid in acorn text.

Hi everybody I hear that CIMA is looking at revising the correction scheme foe P3 and F3 is there any possibility of the same being done for E3. I have done the exam 3 time and failed. I feel an exam should be conducted to find out if the candidate knows the portion covered and the application of the same. Not to put question in order to trip up the candidates already pressured by the time available.I wish we could go back to the normal written exam. Please could any one give me tips on how to pass E3

Jessy have not done E3 but generally to pass E type papers it is all about time management and exam technique cima have published tips on this through cima connect.
With E papers they will ask questions in odd ways to ensure understanding and correct reading of the question as there are only so many ways you can ask questions on these type of theories.
If you are confident in your knowledge the only thing you can really do is practise practise practise under strict exam timings

Hi - I have taken the last year and a bit off from studying and am trying to now put everything into place. I have only to do the F3 paper and case study now (I think) as I passed the others before the change to this current syllabus. I have struggled with this paper in the past though so I am looking for the best study text/online course available. I am not in the UK so I do this online / home study which is not suitable for my learning style but I don't have a choice since there are no providers here in the US.
Can someone please let me know if there has been a consensus on who has the best text materials now for the OT exams etc? I really need to get a pass on this subject this year otherwise I'll probably throw in the towel.

Really struggling with E3 OT. Have been with BPP and then bought masterclass from Astranti. Still failed. Trying to figure out what the issue is - question scenarios too long? select all that apply? wording twisted to really test students' understanding of each and every theory? Perhaps I am all ready to rock and roll at question 1, 2, 3.... and losing energy by the time i get to questions 40 onwards. Do I keep spending money and keep re-sitting or give up on CIMA (considering I only have E3 OT and case study having done P3 and F3 last year!!!!)

Hi Rups please don't give up you have come too far to quit. Since others who have passed the subject most are using Kaplan I will suggest you use the same text book as well who knows your next sitting may be your lucky one.

kkwame, thank you for your kind words. Sat the exam this evening and failed again . Some CIMA questions were new and some were repeats from previous sittings. It seems like CIMA has a bank of a few hundred questions which they rotate every so often. However the issue is, if I have answered a question thinking it is the correct answer but it is incorrect, I have no way of finding out. so if I sit the paper again and have some of the same questions, I might answer them incorrectly again. I am trying to remember as many questions as I can and revise those topics but not sure if I can remember more than 15 or so... Better try to book the next sitting...

Please, any reason why you think BPP & Kaplan aren't good enough? I am using BPP now.. I would say the lectures and videos are very useful for me. the only limitation is the practices questions are to little while doing the same questions repeating I don't find it useful to me.

I believe your knowledge base is not strong enough.. one you have done this, practice a lot before entering the exam hall again. my friend shared with me, he had attempt 200 questions before he gone to the exam and passed... although different people doing differently, but I still believe by doing as many questions as possible will help.

I've also attempted E3 for the third time now & still failed, the 2nd attempt I got 67%; 3rd attempt I got 68%. My friend also wrote E3 for the 3rd time & he got 69% on his Last two attempts . I used BPP & Astranti Notes & also did Kaplan mocks.
The Building block model ( I.e. Fitzgerald & Moon) is also not included in Astranti notes, upon enquiring with Astranti team was told that apparently some CIMA examiners covers topics which are not part of the CIMA syllabus but they take it from some service providers.
Please I will appreciate more tips on how to pass E3, planning to sit again mid-January 2016.
Thanks

Hi,
I was wondering if somebody could advise what they have been using in their preparation for F3. I used Kaplan and BPP questions kit, but then on the real exam, the questions were much harder and complicated comparing the one on which I prepared myself and of course I fail, so I am not sure what else I can use. I enrolled for Astranti questions and mocks but I am afraid I could be unprepared again. Some ideas what else can help me?
