Hi everyone,
We thought we would start a thread where we can bring thoughts and ideas about the November 2015 Preseen Industry - the Forestry Industry
We know from our research there is a good amount of information out there on this sector which can help improve our understanding of the industry.
I am sure many of you will have already spent time surfing the net to build your knowledge so it would be great if everyone could share your findings and get the benefit of each others efforts!
So let's begin!
What industry examples have you found? how does this relate to Wodd?

Canfor are Canada's largest forestry company. Interestngly the percentage of certified timber has been increasing rapidly in recent years. Wodd's certification is key for them and their brand too. Try to learn some stats about Canfor's certification here so you can quote these in the exam should a question on certification arise - www.canfor.com/sustainability-report/environment/independent-certification

Worth checking out Phaunos Timber, am investment company listed in the UK. They recently carried out a strategic review of its biological asset values, finding they were grossly overvalued and inherently high risk! Interesting application and also they have a link to a number of forestry related bodies www.phaunostimber.com/?page_id=70 Another recent event was the "Merger" of Weyerhaeuser and Plum Creel, creating the US's largest timber products company (they anticipate growth in the US housing sector). FT has good coverage of the issue if you have access - www.ft.com/cms/s/0/4dbc5f76-868f-11e5-9f8c-a8d619fa707c.html
